Simple Living Dress
She played an old acoustic guitar someone had given her years before, it was her constant companion. She'd sit for hours writing lyrics in a beat up old notebook and then set them to music - peace, harmony, love and lost love were her main themes. She made her own dresses from bits and pieces of clothes she cut apart, mostly found in thrift stores. She lived in a small place up in the hills surrounded by pine trees where she could sit on her deck and make jewelry or paint or read books or play her music. Incense and candles were always lit and she, herself, always wore the scent of fresh strawberries. She had an old car but rode her bike wherever she went until the rains came. She made all who visited her, and there were many, feel welcomed and embraced. Fresh bread and tea seem to appear from nowhere. She had a laugh like tinkling bells and a singing voice that many hoped would be recorded one day. She lived a simple life earning her money waitressing and selling her art and even some of the clothes she refashioned. On occasion she would sell her homemade bread and jars of jams at the local farmers market, selling out in the first hour. She did well for herself and she was by and large a happy woman except for the fact she was still waiting for love. She knew it would come to her one day though and so she remained ever hopeful.

You should make a book from all those dresses (maybe pictures or copies of them) and the stories. I love your little stories. They make the dress come alive!
Lisa,
Did you visit me somewhere in my subconscious? The girl in your post is the ME I was meant to be, but was not. (Too scared.)
I hope I am not heading down the wrong path here but I seem to remember it was you and Daisy who loved "Suzanne" and "Ladies of the Canyon." If not, stop me here!!!! I never heard LOTC (can you believe it??), but I BELIEVED I WAS SUZANNE.
This is my very favorite dress and my very favorite post, even if I have gotten my bloggers mixed up; but then, I don't think I would be far off the mark because you are that type of lovely lady too!

One night... it was under the quarter moon, she was out on the veranda swaying to the music that played from within her apartment... she was wearing that particular dress that she loved, the one where the journey begins now... and she heard it... that voice singing of love, and somehow their fingers entwined, music and song pulsing through their first meeting, there in the star lit night, hope took wing and their hearts set out together...
Anyone we know???
Love the dress, love the story. I think it has a happy ending and the young woman found true love.
